Electronic braking systems can make fast decisions, but the wheel-end hardware must convert the command into braking force. In electric trailer brakes, electromagnet response is one important link in that chain.
From electrical signal to shoe movement
Current builds a magnetic field, the magnet engages the rotating surface and the actuating mechanism expands the shoes. Delays can arise from wiring resistance, controller ramp strategy, magnet characteristics, mechanical free play and shoe adjustment.
Why timing consistency matters
Uneven response between wheel ends can contribute to pulling, unstable braking or inconsistent stopping distance. Repeatability across voltage, temperature and production batches is therefore as important as a single fast laboratory result.
